The process – known as chair-side bleaching – takes place in the comfort of any of our Dentistry of the Carolinas offices. After you kick back and relax in the dental chair, one of our dental professionals will apply a whitening solution on your teeth. The solution stays on for 20 minutes and, if necessary, can be administered up to two more times. This fast and effective approach will give you the lightest shade realistically possible and better controls gum and tooth sensitivity.

The following are some frequently asked questions:
How long does it take? Up to 90 minutes of chair time. The material is applied in 30-minute increments and the patient can have up to three 30-minute sessions, which must be done in the same day.
Will there be pain or sensitivity? Teeth can be slightly sensitive to hot and cold for up to a week after whitening. However, a more typical result is alternative hypersensitivity for 23 hours, and this dissipates even more rapidly with the use of Sensodyne.
What does a patient need to do before and after the treatment? Nothing needs to be done prior to the treatment. For 24 hours following the procedure, patients must avoid anything that would stain a white t-shirt, such as coffee, tea, dark sodas, and spaghetti sauce.
