Charlotte-based dental group Dentistry of the Carolinas has expanded its footprint in the local area with the acquisition of Perrino Dentistry.

That practice, located in the University area, will take the Dentistry of the Carolinas name in early 2013. It focuses on general dentistry, with additional treatment for preventative, restorative and cosmetic cases. The office has eight employees.

Dentistry of the Carolinas now owns and operates 11 offices that span six counties in North Carolina. The practices specialize in general, orthodontic, prosthodontic care. It has more than 100 employees, up 40 percent since 2008.

“Although the economic landscape has drastically changed during our two decades in business, the needs for dental services have maintained, and we are happy to report we’ve continued to produce steady growth as we expand and create more jobs throughout the region,” says Dr. Clark Hammock, executive vice president.

This is the second acquisition in 2012 for the dental practice. In February, the dental group purchased Spring Lake Dental Center, a general dentistry practice in the Cumberland County town of Spring Lake.

The company also moved into a nearly 3,000-square-foot corporate office in Parkview building in SouthPark on Monday. That space is nearly triple the size of the dental group’s former offices on Woodlawn Road.

The new space will accommodate the dental group’s monthly companywide staff meetings, internal educational seminars and a dental-study club hosted by Hammock and various guest lecturers.
